The Anaheim Factory Collection is named after our first factory once located at 704 East Broadway in Anaheim.

ICONIC FEATURES

Highlights of

1966

THE BEGINNING

Vans, then known as the Van Doren Rubber Company, opens its first factory, retail store, office and warehouse in Anaheim. The Authentic, then known as Style 44, is one of the first Vans’ silhouettes created and establishes the foundation of our design language.

1976

CREATING ICONS

The Era (Style 95) is introduced to the world as our first skateboard shoe. The Off the Wall logo and red heel tab debut alongside the Era, followed by the Old SkoolTM (Style 36), the Sk8-Hi® (Style 38) and the Slip-On (Style 98) in the following years.

1980s

DESIGN EVOLUTION

Various colours and prints are introduced at this time including our iconic Checkerboard print. By 1983, the Anaheim Factory closes, and a new factory and headquarters is established nearby in the City of Orange.

TIME OF CHANGE

The design language of Vans silhouettes continues to develop and expand through the decade. We continue to manufacture in the USA right through to the mid-1990s and after over three decades of homegrown making, our final Southern California factory closes down in 1998.

HERITAGE AT HEART

The Anaheim Factory Collection is born. Inspired by our design history and working with our archives, the Anaheim Factory Collection is created at Vans Global Headquarters in Southern California. Each season we look both to the past and the future to honour Vans’ rich heritage, designing new collections with Vans heritage at its heart.
